@bad Animals seem to fall under the realm of Earth Pony latent magic (to me at least) and most other pegasi love flying. This is all my headcanon, though, and you can think what you want.

There'd probably be more than a few fics floating around where the happy family veneer was just a sham and Scootaloo was being abused at home.
Maybe Scootaloo had earth pony parents, so she inherited the raw strength that earth ponies have, which is why she can pull fully loaded wagons with just her wings, but lack something that pegasi have that turn that power into lift.

I hate to say it about the fandom but I sorta agree with Mio. If they give Scoots a family or anything positive, it'll only generate Sad/Dark fics about her losing them so it keeps with the headcanon of the individual.

I think there's probably a little bit of influence when it comes to race (if you can do magic, you'll obviously be more inclined in that direction than if you couldn't), but I think it's pretty minor.
Okay, I know that that's not entirely true, but St. Germain voices a lot of female characters in the show, and New voices a lot of male characters in the show. They do a good job sounding different across the characters they voice!
