My random thoughts
I do kind of take issue with the idea that sex and sexuality are inherently dirty or scarring and that kids should be "protected" from it. Reproduction's a fact of life, and if kids are mature enough to ask about it, they shouldn't be given the runaround or misinformation.
One amusing moment from
Hoofstuck involved the CMC speculating amongst themselves about where foals come from. IIRC, Sweetie Belle thought they came from magic mirrors; Scootaloo thought they were delivered to Equestria by meteors (
Homestuck joke); and Apple Bloom knew enough about breeding to know that it involved mixing genetic material, but she thought genetic material was something parents spit up and mixed in a bucket (another
Homestuck joke).
