I think the backslash thing is because it can act as a code canceler if you want to use asterisks without getting a bullet point. Putting an asterisk gets you this:

Putting one with a backslash in front of it gets you this:

Going by the title, Smartypants is Hobbes.

Trixie... maybe. But I don't think she really fits the mold.

Strictly speaking, Twilight's probably the closest to Susie in terms of personality, so having her as Calvin suggests that the Susie analogue would be closer to Calvin in personality. In that case, Rainbow Dash?
