I heard there is some sort of shape shifting villain this coming season.

I wonder if the new villain will actually fight Celestia?

I heard that they made this pony show where the villian is surpisingly viscious. I heard that his name was Tirek.

I could easily see an episode about setting good examples, in which RD gets particularly dangerous in her showing off, but is skilled enough to not get hurt, but Scootaloo tries to copy her.

Yeah, I think it would be something like "RD does something cool to impress Scoots, who then ends up doing something dangerous in imitation" and RD has to learn to to be more responsible.

Hopefully they settle the question of Scoot's parents. All the orphanfic and Forever Scootalone stuff is getting old fast.

Indeed. Although it would be interesting if it turned out that she was adopted by Earth Pony parents or something. Might explain why she hasn't learned to fly yet.

Maybe Scoots is in the same boat as Pound Cake, without Pegasi parents.

There's some Classical and pre-Classical fanon which claims that before the founding of what would become Equestria eventually, there wasn't good prospects for a pony born a different race from their parents, and mixed-race marriages were taboo in those dark yesteryears.

Random: My attempt at drawing AJ◊ for the NATG. I figured I had already drawn best pony, so I decided to draw 2nd best pony (Rarity). Then I took one look at her mane, went "nope", and decided that AJ would be easier to draw. I swear I have more issues getting the legs right...

I could see mixed race issues cropping up when the tribes kept separate from each other. One mixed race marriage could "taint" a bloodline, leading to unexpected complications decades later. For example, a pegasus marries an earth pony, and their children are all pegasi. No problems there. One of those children goes on to settle in a cloud city like Cloudsdale. Still no problems. He marries and has children, but one of them is an earth pony. Now the whole family is forced to either move or give up the child, because a cloud city physically can't accommodate earth ponies or unicorns for any extended amount of time.

@Lurker: Not to mention all the Chocolate Baby accusations that could be thrown around. Mostly in this modern Equestria, it just looks odd when two Earth Ponies have fraternal twins that are of different races because Pony Genetics has more unpredictable dierolls than a D&D player rolling against Discord.

This conversation is a lot like what I studied for my Masters dissertation. Mostly about non-European heritage in the Afrikaner population.

I reckon racial discrimination amongst ponies began to fade after the Unification, and was swept under the rug after Discord's reign.

I also find it kinda depressing that people came up with a slur for Earth Ponies so easily. I mean, mud ponies? D:

I am quite sure some fanon or fanfics somewhere touch on how some fringe or old-fashioned ponies still look down on mixed-race couples.

@Ace: Although at least in that specific case (non-identical twins of different races that each other or the mother), there's really no other explanation outside of genetic weirdness given that no matter what race the father is, one of the foals is going to be a different race than either parent. But yeah, I doubt it's a huge problem in modern Equestria, given that they know enough about genetics to realize the actual explanation.

@Sereg The difference here being that mixed race can lead to actual physical complications that can't be fixed with social advancement rather than discrimination.

@Ace I believe that Kegi was writing a fic involving a genocidal maniac with a problem with mixed races.

My headcanon is that most of the racism was lost during Discord's reign, partially because most of the older ponies who lived through the events of Hearth's Warming Eve died through it and partially because the races were forced to work together to try and stop Discord.
