I think I'm turning in, folk. It's been fun, but I'll be seeing you.
Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need.

@Bliss: Fun fact. The Orion pony Colin mentions isn't me. He was talking about a white stallion with an Orion cutie mark.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

Everyone always has tons of ideas for games.

Besides Pony Emblem, I'm also mucking around with concepts for:

  • Bob's Garden of Death, a parody FPS where you play as a middle-aged, over-weight, balding, self-employed landscape contractor who watches too many 80's action movies. You're working on the yard of a 10 year old girl genius's house, and some of the excess of her secret lab has had some weird effects on the lawn, including shrinking you to the size of a plastic army man. You must fight your way through a yard full of mutant ants, predator plants, and zombie army men in order to return to your normal size before the girl's mom gets home, spouting as much cheesy bowdlerized 80's action dialogue as possible along the way. This game's concept was heavily influenced by the works of the Game Overthinker.
  • A smartphone-based JRPG starring a 13 year old girl who gets sucked into a video game console in an abandoned house during a storm and finds herself in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Moreover, she finds that she can take on the aspects of these creatures as different job classes to fight for their various clans and bring peace to their world.
  • A JPRG starring a young black man who finds himself caught up in a conflict between a nation of magic and tradition and one of technology and innovation as he becomes the hero of a village caught between the two after escaping from captivity. The character is also mute as both an homage to the classic Heroic Mime, and as a symbol of his disenfranchisement as a black man in a white world.

Well, does anyone except me and Jit have any suggestions for a theoretical 16-bit Super Adventure Ponies?

I was thinking that it'd be interesting to port/rewrite it for the GBA.

G'night Drenius.

@Blissey: I'm one of the Madoka fans here. (Points at avatar)

Myself, I have a bunch of game templates stuck in my head too.

Who needs binary? As long as spells can be modularized and chained into each other, you could easily make the case for it being programmable.

I mean, what kind of programmer even thinks in binary these days? We work in objects and data types, not pure binary strings.

As for other game ideas, for a while I was thinking about a Daring Do mix but it never came to anything and would require too much original art to be practical anyway.

Guilty. Some of my fics started off as game ideas.

Also, am I the only one who feels a little... weird today?

@Perpetual: Exactly; video games exist, but due to technological limitations they're all really primitive.

@Blissy: You're saving all these page numbers somewhere, right?

You're gonna have to be more specific. That could mean anything.

I've also come up with a great many video game ideas, several of which I think have promise.

Ehm... I guess its because I keep getting this image that Ponyville is really old-timey, it just feels weird to think they have something as modern as video games there.

Well, Ponyville does kinda run on Schizo Tech. It's kinda weird.

re "Feeling Weird" - It's like, for some reason I have trouble keeping track, keep getting easily confused... like keeping up with the conversation is stressful even though it isn't. I think it may just be the heat affecting my brain.

"Eat at Joe's" is the bane of my freaking existence. With the hellish platforming and that godforsaken saber-toothed fish. Not only that, but the game has the balls to give this room the brightest lighting and happiest music in the whole stage. As if to say "Hey, you shouldn't be sucking this hard! It's a fun, relaxing beach level!" The titular Joe's annoying laugh is just the cherry bomb on top of this sundae from Hell.

Sorry, all of you probably have no idea what I'm saying. I just wanted to vent.

Definitely. Shizo Tech is always weird, even if it does happen occasional in real life.

Magic itself would allow for all sorts of tech, but the lack of mechanical tech would still hold things back.

@Moe Maybe you should try getting more sleep or something. Have you changed your routine drastically recently?
