I might go see The Dark Knight Rises tommorow. Particularly since I know that I can only avoid running into spoilers for so long, so I'd rather see the movie as soon as I can. I have been waiting three years for this movie, after all.

So y'know how the merchandising and actual show clips have been really inconsistent on the whole Crystal Kingdom/Empire thing? Here's my theory:

At the start of the episode, it will be the Crystal Kingdom, ruled by Cadance, and in some kind of decline. The Mane 6 are sent by Celestia to do their thing and save it (with HISTORY somehow). But at the end of the episode, the villain (Vulcanus? Is it just Gex calling him that?) forcefully takes over, declares himself the CRYSTAL EMPEROR and invades Equestria. Basically, he'd be trying to accomplish the same thing as the heroes, preventing the Kingdom from disappearing, but has decided to use violent methods to accomplish it.

I figured he'd just stage a coup. Obviously he'd need to have some kind of exemplary power if he was gonna knock Cadance and Shiny off the throne, but he is a unicorn, and therefore has access to magic. He probably uses some kind of crystal (CRYSTAL EMPEROR!!) to grant him extra power.

On Prince Blueblood's role from a few pages ago. My headcanon is that he technically oversees Canterlot and the surrounding areas but since Celestia lives in Canterlot she deals with all that stuff.

@Badwolf: What did you think of Rises? I really liked it, even though it had a lot of technical problems. It was a beautiful mess.
