I think he's just having one of his inferiority complex moments. He occasionally does that when presented with epic art. Hopefully it's temporary. Just because there's room for improvement is no reason to give up.

No, it's just a word I made up. "The imminent Batmanning" here refers to the eagerly awaited release of the final film in the Dark Knight trilogy.
