Same here. If you're familiar with Calvin and Hobbes, that's pretty much how I would have been if I had been put in the scouts. That and I lived far enough away from my school that doing any after school activities meant not getting home until like 7 or 8. I managed to get on the honor roll, though.

@Syd: Somebody put together the entire soundtracks for both seasons; dividing them up into 4 discs worth of music for each season. Season 1, season 2. There are a couple different formats depending on your audio preferences. In a few bits you can vaguely hear the voices in the background, but on the whole it's really good. I've been listening to it all day.

Scouts really isn't a school related activity. At least not where I lived. We just held meetings someplace in town once a week and went camping on the weekends. Tons of fun.

It rained every time we went camping. What I mostly remember was filling out checklists of stupid activities to get badges.

Yeah, I knew a couple guys who were in scouts and it just never seemed like fun to me. The only part of camping I actually like is messing with the fire and making smores. I never was much of an outdoorsy type anyway. The whole reason people learned to build houses and beds was so we don't have to sleep outside on the ground, and I'd much rather take advantage of that.

I guess it really depends on the people. If you don't like the people you'd be hanging out with in your troop, then you wouldn't have any fun.

They should make a Survivor or Robinson Crusoe camp thingy that teaches the kids wilderness survival. Or a Fallout camp that makes pretend to be a nuclear shelter.

I've totally just built my own shelter and slept in it before. Definitely an interesting experience. If you build your pile of sticks and leaves just right, it'll even keep you dry in the rain.

@Perpetual: Yeah, I wasn't the kind of kid who would have enjoyed that at all. In college I had to build a shelter out of cardboard and live in it for a few days for a days as part of a sociology class. It sucked. It was actually kinda weird because all the guys in my dorm were camping guys, so they'd be all like "We're going to drive out to a field and camp out for the weekend, want to come along?" and I'd have absolutely no idea why they would consider that fun. Yeah, I'm a lazy bum who spends too much time on the internet.
