I have a similar hypothesis to Perpetual Lurker, though I think that Celestia may have had Laughter rather than Magic. As for hiding the involvemenet of others, most didn't even know that Discord existed. For goodness sake, they'd forgotten about Luna. It would hardly be a different policy from her standard one.

Celestia has stained glass windows featuring the Element victories and there's a book about her defeat of Luna. Prior to the Mane Six, only herself and Luna appear in them.

Is that Magic the Traveling thing the start of a series? Considering the title and the Black Lotus picture in the book at the beginning, I expected it to be about Twilight awakening the Planeswalker Spark, but it kinda ends without indicating anything other than just being silly.

I like how the first thousand include both "redeemed" and "irredeemable". Somebody really loves their redemption around here!

As for the other bearers besides Celestia and Luna, my headcanon is that the friendship required to use the Elements meant that Celestia was incredibly close to the other bearers. Unfortunately, she's immortal. They weren't. She wasn't willing to live with the constant reminder of their former existence, so she erased them. From history, and possibly from her own memories. That final act of severing their friendship is what caused the Element of Magic to reject her in the end, too.

Of course, that's depressing as all hell and probably isn't true. I'm just a sucker for tragic stuff like that sometimes.
