I'm doing pretty much the opposite of speed reading. I'll never catch up.

How far are you, story?

I just got to the part where Jade opens her music player. So now I have to listen to 10+ minutes of music.

Anyway the audience thing was really weird when trying to "Guess" the cards in Jades' sylladex, since it obviously wasn't her doing it, and then on the next page it was.

You don't have to listen to it. I just played it in the background while I went ahead anyway. I'm usually listening to music while I'm on the computer. Listening to The White Stripes right now, actually.

Dave's earlier "remixes" suck.

Also, I see Jade has Carcino Genetisist in her chatlist. I guess this is the first appearence of the trolls everyone keeps talking about.

Also, -1 points to Jade for thinking Dave is sooooo coooool. Sorry but Rose will always be Best Kid.

[up][up]Yeah, I didn't care for them, but I listened to them all because I thought there might be something hidden in it.

There wasn't.

[up] Aw, she's just naive. That's why she's great!

I wouldn't say they suck. They just have a certain sound. I happen to like them.

[up][up][up]Are you insinuating that Dave is, in fact, not a "coolkid"?

And Dave's Bro is The Flash. Who'd have guessed.

I don't care for that kind of electronic music sort of stuff. And I am sort of disturbed by Dave's bro, and his "collection."

Dave has coolspeed too.

I guess that makes him kid flash.

Anyway, you're reading at a fine pace Story, you're about 1/4 caught up already.

Don't try to force yourself to read fast, it's much more enjoyable if you take it slow and try to understand everything as you go.

I have to admit that I always did find Dave kind of a douche. He certainly has his moments, but on the whole I find that "Insufferable Prick" would have been an entirely apt name for the guy. He's probably my least favorite of the original four kids.

I find that aspect of his personality to be Actually Pretty Funny, though. He amuses me.

I'm never not amused by Dave's dialogue no matter who he's talking to or about.

Pretty much the same for CG and GC.

And eventually, Roxy.

I think I'd like Dave better if he didn't swear so much.

It makes him seem like an actual thirteen-year-old boy. Nobody likes thirteen-year-old boys.

Dave does get some excellent character development, though.

I didn't start swearing until I turned 18. My mom curses like a sailor (except in front of other people) and I didn't really want to end up like that.

I kind of like Dave's swearing, though. It makes him funnier.

I think out of the four orignal kids I liked John the most.

I was talking to latenight who also recently started reading (he's in the middle of Act 5 Act 2) and he likes John the best too.

I never swore much either. Also, apparently you can plug things in across captchalogue cards? Is it me or does Rose's Sylladex have a more physical prescence than the others?

@Turtle: John is my favorite of the kids as well, followed by Jade. Although I have to say that out of all the alchemy binges, Dave's is by far my favorite. When he switches over from making useful items to just dicking around and making weird stuff it's hilarious.

As for the swearing, I very rarely swear unless it's a Precision F-Strike. I've always thought that using a Cluster F-Bomb just makes you sound like you have a really small vocabulary, and it has the side effect of alienating people who find that sort of thing offensive, so generally I don't unless there's a good reason for it.

You know, John's Dad really reminds me of Pinkie in Secret Of My Excess. No I'm assualting them with cake.

I've been working on quitting swearing since the first time I joined this thread (well, not this one, the main thread, but you know what I mean.)

Usually I find it exceedingly unfunny when characters just swear a lot to try to be funny, but I still love Dave and Karkat. Of course in their case their humor is in their bizarre metaphors and sarcasm than in their swearing.

I never swear.

Sometimes I yell out names of Exisentialists, though. "Shut the Dostoevsky door, you Kierkegaard."
