Are you kidding? There are going to be thousands upon thousands of MLP fanfics where the plots will be lifted from other superhero movies.
There already are :|
Meh. That episode was disappointingly flat, especially for the potentially epic premise. Doesn't help that we just had an episode of Dash being
less of a headstrong idiot.
I mean, here's what I was kind of hoping for by 2/3 through.
Dash's overzealous peanut-butter-jar efforts causes some kind of over-the-top catastrophe. The Mare's upstage save backfires and puts her in a tight spot. The
other Mares come out to come to the rescue (SHOCKER!), and all promptly fail. Dash spends about two seconds of WTF over the
multiple Mares, then puts it right on the back burner and breaks out the 200% Motherfucking Loyalty to charge through her self-made meat grinder and make the save. The Mare's mask comes off halfway out. Ends with most of Ponyville still pissed at Dash for causing it in the first place, but her priorities scared straight enough that she's just glad everypony's okay. Optional "this is way more dangerous than it looks, kids" message via the Mare being rattled by the whole thing.
Key notion: Dash gets deflated by her own flaws, but saves what's important by her own strengths (as opposed to not really redeeming herself, nor petulant attention whoring by ruining the Mare's reception never biting her in the ass). Lesson of priorities is actually demonstrated instead of The More You Know. Lesson actually relates to holding those around you above personal ambitions, instead of just not being a petulant camwhore jackass. Additional minor themes of best laid plans, etc.
Though the notion of positively epic citywide OSHA fails and an unexplained open cliff facing hillside that everypony always wanders too near with their detached wagons and baby carriages is amusing.
