If the amount of rape that is acceptable to you is not zero, and you are not Pyramid Head, you need to seriously rethink your life.

If anything, Urdist is probably closest to the intended demographic than anything, so at least he can get away with it.
In fact, if Youtube's statistics are anything to go by, this show seems to be just as popular with the 'women between 13 and 17' crowd as it is with late-teenage to middle-aged men, so the statistics don't lie.

Some of the quotes are close to memetic, like the 20% cooler line from Art of the Dress. And Fluttershy's "yay" from the latest episode.
Then there's variations of "Your favorite is Rarity? Silly pony, that's not how you spell Pinkie-Pie!"
Fans have picked up on background ponies and have come up with their own characterization. There's "Overprotective Parent Pony" for one.
This video seems to have generated a meme or two.
Ruining everything forever.

Those are supposed to be ponies? Good grief.
Be not afraid...

It's also no secret that the executive producer of the show is very aware of the fan following for the show, so she might be slipping in subtle jokes that only the older fans would get based on memes around the show.
Hell, it wouldn't be entirely uncalled for to slip in a robot unicorn into one episode, eventually.

He's a baby dragon who lives with Twilight. What's the issue?

He's also a remnant of the ye olde My Little Pony cartoons where he had to be the obligatory male character in the Pink Bishōjo Ghetto.
That's another thing I like about FIM, by the way, that Ponyville isn't a Pink Bishōjo Ghetto either where the ponies do nothing but attend school proms because that would be a girly thing to do.

Ponies are now on my Facebook. I will introduce everyone I know to My Little Pony.
And with that, I must bid you all "adieu". It's 04:13 and I'm tired.
I watched it. It's OK.
It impressed me by having likable characters that were severely girly (which makes me have high hopes for this show and the impression it leaves) BUT I think the plot needs some working on. I watched the first 5-6 episodes or so in one straight sitting, and the clichédness of it was kind of painful and predictable, and not always saved by the writing being amusing.

I think I feel you there: I saw the pilot and I was really hoping that the show would carry through on its mythology, but it's only really there for the pilot and then it kinda peters out.
The later episodes are pretty funny though, so you should keep watching if you're even at least mildly invested in it.

Episode 9 has some of my favourite gags so far, so you could do worse than watch that.
Internal continuity between episodes isn't that important in this show anyway.

Well, the show doesn't really place that much focus on characters developing as individuals and more on their chemistry with one another, and how they learn to get along without necessarily changing themselves.
