To be fair, and meaning absolutely no disrespect to the awesome Applejack, given the nature of the remark that prompted that line, there's no reason to suppose that Big Mac's mathematics are that fancy.

Yeah, but it's a fun thought. And it continues the concept of characters having Hidden Depths. And we don't really know enough about him to say it contradicts anything. And because they do need someone for that job

Maybe it's just because I like Big Mac. Dunno what it is, but for some reason he's my favorite supporting characters

^^ He is especially likeable and memorable. Impressively so, for a character whose dialogue consists primarily of the repetition of one particular word in various different contexts.

He did have more lines in Apple Buck Season, though.

Also, his cheer is the second third best after Fluttershy's. "E'yup."

Fluttershy beats any cheering squad with her "Yay" and the awe inspiring "Yaay."
