^I would have problems with someone who set up a tent in my backyard and started their own little farm there, too. Who cares if they're growing carrots and I was just using my yard to run around in? You don't get to say 'oh, you'll barely notice me, let me just set up a few things, hardly be in your way at all'.

Edit: And yes, of course compromise was the best solution. Both sides were being obstinate about an issue that could have been easily solved in a number of ways.

Bone did Cerebus Syndrome right. Because it was clear that the author planned it to some extent. The major antagonist of the story made an incognito cameo in the very first issue.

@Lurker: I thought you were implying that just by virtue of it being a comedy that it could use Rule of Funny to justify anything. I apologize.

And I have to be honest, comedy has never been this show's biggest draw for me. It has always been the characters, and to a limited extent the setting itself.

Simple way to done Cerebus Syndrome right is (just by looking at page picture) to invite both drama and comedy, and make them have good time.

Do any of us actually think this show is undergoing Cerebus Syndrome, or are we just discussing it at random? I think I missed how this started. I mean, the two-parters have had End of the World as We Know It as the stakes since day one, so it's kind of hard to say that they've gotten progressively darker.

Another great Cerebus Syndrome The Order of the Stick.

[up] it started becuase someone asked how long it will be before the show DOES undergo it.

I certainly don't think it's undergoing Cerebus Syndrome. The finale was too light hearted to be considered such an example imo, and of course, the last normal episode was MM Mystery. That's hardly a serious 22 mins of tv.

It doesn't seem like Cerebus Syndrome is taking place, nor do I think that is the direction it will go in.

What do you think about The Order of the Stick's Cerebus?

@Mio The draw for me is the cohesive whole. A lot of the comedy works because of the great characters/setting, and the show even manages to take comedic situations and extrapolate Character Development and world building from it. Anything here standing on its own wouldn't be enough to make me a fan.

This show need to have some longer adventure related arc or big bad to even have possibility of Cerebus Syndrome

In a world where little girls didn't watch TV, I'd actually enjoy it if the show went through Cerberus Syndrome.

I wouldn't mind more consistent world building, but I don't think it should get too dramatic.

I was just about to mention The Order of the Stick when Seraph beat me to the punch.

Here's my issue. The buffalo weren't even using the land most of the time. All they did was stampede across it. They're in the middle of the desert! Is it really so hard to go around? If they didn't chop down the trees, that would have meant more fruit, even if they did give some to the buffalo. (Not that I had a problem with them paying taxes to the buffalo. It was their land after all.) Of course, as I said, I'm a little blinded by the similar activities in Africa which result in the murder and starvation of many people.

Honestly I have a harder time taking the "adventure" episodes seriously than the slice-of-life ones. I just have a hard time believing that the mane cast are really in danger; Like You Would Really Do It is in full effect.

I think it speaks volumes that a girls cartoon about colourful magic ponies has the best writing in animation for the last decade by a very wide margin. That's not a slight on the show of course. That's a slight against all the so called 'adult' shows.

I'd watch any episode of FIM over South Park or...shudder...Family Guy any day of the week. Mostly because FIM actually tells a story, and very successfully too, using consistent characters and plots derived from said characters true personalities.

Eh, the early family guy episodes were alright, but it went downhill fast after the cancellation/ uncanceling

I don't think Family Guy went that bad (not compared to last 10 seasons of South Park). But American Dad is far better show anyway.

What's weird is in a show like Avatar which features war and genocide and yet barely anyone dies onscreen.

Yeah, I love the first three seasons of Family Guy, but after the show got canceled and then uncanceled, it went downhill really fast.

[up][up]That's why I prefer Korra, where offscreen or backstory stuff is not that jarring when compared to onscreen.
