Okay, here's an idea.

Twilight is running through Ponyville. She has a distressed look on her face, and all kinds of new incidental background ponies are in the background. She trips, and when she looks up, she sees a red and black alicorn with a globe for a cutie mark. The mysterious pony tells Twilight that it is amazing when the fluffy purple space worm goes through the interdimensional wormhole. The red and white pony turns into Jon Tron, and flies off on his giant parrot. Twilight agrees to herself that she shouldn't ever bring this incident up again, and continues running.

comment confirmed

that Things That Go Bump in the Night is related to an episode (like how Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day/Twilight Sparkle's Special Lesson is to "Hearth's Warming Eve"), so we might be seeing a camping

episode in Season 3.

Also Blissey, the April fools joke including changing avatars to various stuff like Sparticus, Weeping Angel, Serenity, and a pony. But unfortunately the pony was a g1 flutterpony.

oh, you know what? I actually do remember that! Whichever thread I was in at the time had a whole string of "I AM SPARTACUS!" posts! I guess I just missed the pony. Or maybe forgot about it since I didn't care about ponies at the time.
