I think the elements didn't work because A. The element of loyalty was tied to rainbow dash. I suspect Murdering her might be effective to cause the switch and B. None of the other 5 elements were anywhere near harmony.

NO! There is absolutely NO reason why Spike couldn't at least TRY to wield the element of Loyalty in
Fallout Equestria. Oh, he handwaves it in Project Horizons but his reasoning is pitiful

Actually that does bring up a plot hole. Doesn't the Elements of harmony all have to be good friends with each other? The latter two elements aren't even known at the end of the book and Homage is only connected to the others through pip (Get your head out of the gutter.),

@Ginger: In the Discord episodes it's because the element is still linked to RD. If you could use the elements when they're linked to other ponies, Celestia could have taken Discord out herself.

Let's see, pony-related events since the last time I posted here, all those months ago:
- No less than three friends have turned out to be bronies, even though one is in denial about it and steadfastly maintains that he hates the show even as he chuckles at Pinkie's antics. One has coined the term "the manly show" to describe it.
- I've actually watched the bits of season 2 I missed while taking that break.
- I've now got the two DVD's that are easily available in Australia. Sadly, these go up to about Swarm of the Century and no further, but at least I don't have to pay attention to the tender mercies of YouTube and my internet cap now.
- And oatmeal is indeed crazy.

I think it's actually because of the similarity to cuso which is used as a swear in the
Ender's Game series.
