To me, it seems like they aren't really angsting about their cutie marks anymore. I mean, sure, it's motivation a lot of the time, but more and more it seems more like an excuse for them to hang out together and try all sorts of random, fun things. The last time there was any real concern over it was Apple Bloom's funk in Cutie Pox, and the other two weren't bothered at all.

@Lurker That's what I meant. It just came off to me like Scootaloo was the one least bothered by it in that ep, I don't know

Or maybe it's because she was oddly enough the most understanding of the group in Cutie Pox

Hey, I just realized something. After rebotting my computer, my screen is back to normal. Yay!

I like how Rainbow says she "was racing to defend Fluttershy's honor" completely without embarrassment.

Maybe they toned down their upset over it due to the inevitable Failure Is the Only Option. Might seem a bit cruel to bum out three cute little kids every episode.

Oh, well I mean she does exceptionally nice things for Fluttershy, she acts uncharacteristically gentle and even goes out of her way to help or hang out with her a lot more than she usually does with others. Fluttershy turns RD from a self absorbed Jerk with a Heart of Gold to a supportive Cool Big Sis. Sometimes anyway.

@Blue: I can't really consider Cutie Mark Chronicles as a Scootaloo episode because while she drives the plot, it's a framing device at best; the real substance of the episode isn't really about her any more than Frankenstein was about that explorer dude. And I have to say I've never been a huge fan of that episode in general; Rarity, Pinkie, and Twilight's flashbacks were the only really interesting ones; the others just seemed like more "well duh" foregone conclusions.

@Ginger: TL;DR a moiral is kinda like a morality pet; it's a one-sided relationship where one person acts as an anchor for another and keeps their more unsavory tendencies in check.

Also I updated my tumblr with my response to Over a Barrel. Warning: It is not one of my favorite episodes. As a matter of fact it's probably my least favorite S1 episode.

@Ginger:It's a Homestuck thing. There's a race of aliens that have 4 distinct types of romance, of which they are supposed to find a partner for each one. One of the four (quadrants) is called Moiraillegance, and the partner is called a moirail. Moirallegance is "platonic" romance, meaning there is no procreation involved, but is serves more of a social function. The aliens in question are extremely violent and dangerous, and a moirail is supposed to pacify their partner, keeping their reckless and violent urges in check, and basically being a supportive person who you can share anything with and who gives you advice and such.
