"Applebuck Season" was originally about "applebumping", i.e. Applejack would harvest apples by ramming trees with her head. (You can see how the script originally had her consciousness deteriorating already, huh?) But Hasbro said, uh, maybe that's not quite the kind of thing we want to be encouraging kids to do, y'know? So they rejiggered the concept into applebucking, which works as a drop-in replacement to the story—making it about sleep deprivation instead. So applebucking ends up both becoming an iconic Applejack "thing", and the story turns out quite a bit more fun than a lesson about repetitive long-term cranial trauma.

This is just about the greatest thing I've ever heard. I wonder what the moral of that episode would have been. "AJ, we're your friends. Let us share in the brain trauma."

Wow... that would have made for an interesting episode.

That entire post was full of fantastic information. Probably my favorites tidbits of upcoming episodes are:

More two-parters. I definitely want to see some more slice-of life episodes before they do another multi-parter but as a fan of arc-based shows it's nice to see them heading a little (albeit probably not much) more in that direction.
A "Scary" episode. I'm assuming for a Halloween special, which would be awesome. Not sure what it would entail, but I just like the sound of it.
And then there's the riddle about episode three. "Tick-tock, time's running out." It's probably a coincidence, but... Jayson has said that the crew knows about Doctor Whooves...
- I'm just hoping for some sort of time travel. I am a gigantic time travel nut, so I'm certain that would be right up my alley, Doctor or no.

Ugh, I'm not making another post with so many separate spoiler tags again soon.

OK, this Jayson guy? He's just great. He owns, man.

If I had any doubts as to the quality of the upcoming season, now that Lauren's left? All of those doubts are gone, now, after reading that interview and seeing just how much he gets it, you know?

Oh, and I really liked how he characterized their relationship with Hasbro. How Hasbro's just like the guy who shows up every now and then and is all "heeeey guys, you know what would be great? A big hot-air balloon. We'll sell a ton of 'em. Peeeeeeeaaaaace!"

If you take only one thing from the interview, it should be that Lauren Faust left due to burnout. She wasn't kicked off or snubbed (as some had rumored), but simply found the workload and duties to be more than she could handle.

I starting to hate Slice of Life.

It's good that s2 will have more non SOL episodes.

Watched third time , now in 1080p quality. More time i watch it , more I like it.

Me too. I would rather see slice of life episodes such as Look Before You Sleep rather than two-parters that involve villains.

I wouldn't say I don't want anymore villains (I need them in fact), I just hope hope the adventuring episodes don't overwhelm the SOL

The way I see it, the slice of life episodes should develop the characters

and the adventure episodes should be the occasional payoff to said development. The moments where we get to see the cast accomplish something amazing.

I watched the two new episodes, but I'll let my thoughts out on those later. Regarding on that source from Ponygoons, color me surprised. A new villain? This could be interesting. Also, did anyone of you see this yet

You know, I've been watching this with my little sister, and her favorite episodes are actually the first two since they had a villain. Well, I guess that's what happens when you raise someone on a diet of Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Full Metal Alchemist.

And wasn't it already confirmed that she left of her own violation? Not that that stopped people from getting into tirades on how evil Hasbro is of course.

There is nothing more offensive than science.

How do YOU know that?

I love villains, and I love the adventuring, but even I have to admit that the SOL episodes are what made the majority of us fall in love with these characters, and it's what the writers do best. You can't just say "It'll draw in more fans"

Because I heard and seen people prasing ponies figthing demigod alicorn or dragon. Or statement that they will start watching every episode if it will have some cool villains.
