Ah, yeah the Red Court are a bet iffy, but you would LOVE the White Court vamps, they are your type of bad guy, smart, sneaky, EVERYTHING done with scheming and planning, inside plotting and backstabbing. The single greatest loss of face a White Court vamp can face is being forced to deal with an issue personally instead of being able to trick/beguile/out play someone else into doing for him.

course there not really Vampires per se, they just call them that, there really more like Succubi and Inccubi.

I really don't like vampires either, I personally think everyone should just STOP writing about them for like 50 years. BUT, the vamps in Dresden are a lot more interesting than I thought they'd be. The Black Court are the only "traditional" vampires, and they are barely involved with the plot at all. The Red Court are ancient Mayan monsters only slightly related to the standard vampire legend and The White Court aren't really vampires at all.

You had the bad luck of picking up one of the books that features vamps prominently.

ROFLROFLROFL...ok having 8-Bit Theater flashbacks on that.

"What, it's a wood in steak" (Fighter, the COPLETE idiot of the bunch, tries to kill a vampire with a wood-in-steak...he hits him with a cow he's impaled on a fence post then used Black Mages fire magic to roast.

not to mention the story breaks out four completly seperate types of Werewolves.

You know what hasn't been done before? Someone is a vampire, but it's not a big part of their character. They just happen to be a vampire and that's that.

Sort of like Bi the Way but with vampirism. Vi The Way.

Sorry, I think I'm stuck in one of those negative feedback loops or whatever they're called.

I think it's because I just finished book 1 of Wheel of Time, and I hated the climax. Way to make your villains look useless, Jordan -_-

You might like something like that because it often involves battles of wits and political scheming.

...I don't see how them being used everywhere is a problem. It depends entirely on how they're used. Just disliking them "because vampires" seems kind of erroneous. I mean, I agree that they're everywhere, and it's kind of annoying, but they've pretty much always been popular. It's going to be hard to ever not see them.
@Purple. Vampires are easy to use because they're easy to hide with humans.

I like Discworld vampires.

Yeah, Discworld vampires are pretty great. I also like the Gensokyo vampires, although there are only two of them and they're pretty standard fare.

no, i said you'd like the White Courts vamps, not all of them are tose, there's also

Nicodemus, whose's a human that has bonded to a fallen angel and has been around for thousadns of years spreading chaos and death,

Cowl, a dark wizard that no one relly knows about, but has ben behind a lot...and whose introduction you would love harry whips out a massive force blast, throwing a car on top of Cowl, and Cowl just calmly walks out of the wreckage and keeps coming

And Mavra, who yes IS a vampire of the Black Court, but who is also the one to give harry the single biggest and most traumatizing injury he's had, that lasts for books, and also uses that same "defeat" to gather what she needs to fore him to work for her later
