Did they get into a fight and break up, with Discord watching the whole thing like it was a movie? Hence the chairs and popcorn

I'd guess that as well, although it seems almost too easy. Then again, it's a kids show, so for them it probably would be a twist.

I'm guessing that everyone else went their separate ways due to Discord's influence. Twilight's probably going to have to win them back somehow.

Here's an interesting question: when you read/look at random fanart and fanfiction about the BG ponies that don't have an official voice in the show, how do you hear their voices in your head?

For Vinyl Scratch, I hear her with the voice of Rebecca Crane from Assassin's Creed. Just tell me her voice isn't fitting for Scratch (skip to 0:08, 0:41 and 0:57 in the video below to get good examples of her style of speech)

Ditzy...Well, ever since I heard Bald Dumbo Rat's take on her voice, I can't imagine her sounding any other way now:

Know what I started doing? When I read a Grimdark fic, I imagine it being read to the others by Discord for the sheer act of fucking with them.

The funny thing is that even after I saw the previous clip with the ponies at the labyrinth I still guess "the Everfree forest" first. I hope we get more backstory on Celestia and Luna in part 2.

The last thing I want the episode to feel like is rushed, so adding in Luna's backstory wouldn't really accomplish much when the mane cast are still deharmonized, and Discord is running free.

Or maybe I'm just paranoid? I want this episode to be done right

I was thinking that maybe Luna and Celestia explaining the conflict that caused them to lose the elements will help the mane cast understand how to regain theirs.

And the time travel shown is essentially Christmas Carol style time travel. Does that mean that even Discord can't really change the past?

Dunno who Fifi la Fume is, but I am familiar with Kath Souce. Personally, I kind of hear Octavia with a quiet, elegant, mature voice with a sophisticated vocabulary (and maybe a faint British accent)
