I would've given that up before Rainbow Dash essentially won the contest (there appeared to be 20 events. AJ doesn't mention the cheating until RD had 14 wins under her belt, meaning she'd already won)

Why is rainbow dash a good runner anyway? Not only does it undermine one of AJ's only definable skills (her athleticism, since RD is just as good on land as her. Plus, RD has access to a plane that AJ will never be able to reach) but also: Rainbow Dash's primary skill is flying. She always wants to fly, and most times we see her she's in the air. Her wings should be in amazing shape, but why would her legs be anything even approaching AJ's levels?

Pegasi most likely have less muscle mass overall meaning she's less bulky. Maybe a peagasi uses their legs for stabilizing themselves and lift off.

RD is also athlete. And her talend is speed. So its natural that she is fastest pony in Ponyville, same as AJ.

More important thing: RD match AJ with streght, she even beat her in Hoof Wrestling even if in Ticket Master they were equal (I bet RD had a lot trening in that).

Horever I like fact that they are both fast and strong.

Rainbow Dash does seem to be weirdly strong for a pegasus. At the end of the episode when the cut to all the worn out ponies all of them have wings, so it seems the writers were aware that pegasus should be weaker than earth ponies. RD just seems to be a special case for some reason.

Also keep in mind that Applejack is built to exert a lot of force, so she can knock all the apples out of a tree, which is very different from being a good endurance runner.

Yet another reason why we need more AJ this season. She hasn't actually done anything on screen that another pony can't do just as well if not better.

She really does seem to have gotten the short end of the stick in all this.

I don't deny that she does have other skills, we just haven't seen them.

The strength thing pissed me off, but then I remembered that AJ casually beat RD at that bucking event

Earth ponies in general have gotten the short end of the stick. I know Faust has said they have their own subtler kind of magic, but it would be nice to see evidence of that this season.

One of Rainbow's favored tricks appears to be a thing where she runs on the ground while using her wings to increase her speed. If she does that often, it may explain why she has strong legs.

I think Pinkie Pie is in her own class of pony. You can't really compare her actions to normal earth ponies.

If you're talking about her super speed strut, I think that is actually her flying close to the ground and making it look like she's walking.

x 11 No other pony is such suppor for the group, AJ saved most lives of the ponies (it wasn't much spectacular, most time she just grabbed pony tail who would hurt herself) and don't forget that no other pony could drag longer way in montain paralisated team mate.

I find it funny that the one thing it seems AJ is better than the mane cast at... is cooking. Think about it, she's called Ponyville's best cook, and she was able to spawn that Apple Cake out of nowhere.

Dash's flying strut is just flying while buzzing the ground with her hooves. I'm sure not even she can actually run as fast as she can fly.

Speaking of, I wonder how good a cook Pinkie Pie is. She works in a bakery, but whenever we see her she has help, and incompetent help at that. The Cakes seemed hesitant to leave her in charge, and only did so because AJ was there.

My take is that RD is something of a Fragile Speedster while AJ is more of a Might Glacier; although not quite to the extremes that those tropes imply. But I do think that Applejack is built more for strength than speed, and RD probably doesn't have quite as much raw power as AJ does.

again, we need to see this strength in action more, and in a context where it's the only solution to the problem at hand. So as to give AJ more hero moments that are all her own
