Or not. If Korra's talking to Franzisca, I doubt she was in on the conversation.

I've always wanted to make my own Silent Movie, but I lack the interpersonal communication skills. I'd make a poor directer. Plus, I don't have an eyepatch.

Let's see... John Ford, Fritz Lang, Raoul Walsh, Nicholas Ray... What's up with that, anyway?

@Storyyeller: Who is this Franzisca person?

[up] I've never heard of any of those people.

There's gotta be a reason — all those guys were great directors, and they all lost an eye, and I think it was mostly for different reasons. It's almost like a curse.

I thought you'd at LEAST know John Ford! Don't you like westerns?

Also, Lang is the guy who did Metropolis and M.

Walsh did a handful of Cagney's best pictures, plus The Thief Of Bagdad.

My interests are as Mayflies. That didn't sound pretentious at all.

@Condo: Yeah, I love westerns! I loved the recent, totally original movies 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit!

Well, I've seen the ANIME version of Metropolis at least.

Oh! Andre de Toth! He directed Vincent Price's House of Wax, and he couldn't even see the 3D effects cause of the patch.

@Blue: The funny thing is, I haven't seen the remakes of those two, but I have seen the originals!

Oh, I love Price's House of Wax! I think I prefer The Tingler though. Heck, who am I kidding, I like any film Price has been in.

I've seen Fritz Lang's Metropolis (loved it) but not Osamu Tezuka's.

I don't watch much anime. I love Miazaki movies, though.

Hope I spelled that right...

The cheif of police. I call her Franziska von Karma because of her dramtic whip entrance in episode 6.

I'm assuming that's another dated reference. I don't watch anime much anymore either, though I used to watch TONS of it. I pretty much ran out of good ones though, I've only watched like 2 shows in the past 2 years.

I actually don't like Miyazaki movies.

Hey guys. Dropping in to say hi from a hotel in Omaha. Has a restaurant/bar attached, and it has a hot tub (see avatar to see my reaction to that).

Other than that, spent the day on the road. Altogether we've covered ~1100 miles in 2 days. Ugh.

Of all of Miyazaki's stories, I think Nausicaa or Only Yesterday are my favorites.

Condo, out of curiosity have you ever seen I was a Fugitive from a Chain Gang?

[up]Glad you're still well in spite of traveling 1100 miles.

If you're talking to me, then it's a reference to Ace Attorney. And the big Daddies thing is a reference to Bioshock. The Python thing is of course a reference t Python.

@Condo: They always seem pretty interesting up until near the end of the movie, where they always just resolve themselves in the most boring, anticlimactic manner possible (except Mononoke I guess, which I somewhat liked). Ending's are a big deal to me, a bad ending can ruin an entire work.

@JT: Ugh, too much traveling. I hate road trips.

[down] It seems like it might actually be cheaper to fly...

@Con: I'm visiting relatives who live in the midwest. Me and my parents are literally the only part of the extended family that lives on the east coast. So yeah, 3 days of driving.

[up]It's not that bad, although that might just be that after going to college 12 hours away from home and having to do a 12+ hour drive every few months for 4 years acclimated me to it. Mostly I sleep, listen to music, watch tv shows on my ipod, or play Ocarina of Time 3d.

[up][up]Oh, well. I like them.

Plus, there was this show on for, like, 3 months when I was a kid. It wasn't anime, but it might as well have been, but it was called Martin Mystery.

It was Scooby-Doo, only with a caveman instead of a dog, and all the characters hate each other, and the monsters are real.

[up] I'm going to Brown County, Indian this weekend. I have no idea what's there. My family doesn't tell me anything.
