@Bad no. Cuz it makes her incapable of having a proper, serious fight. She NEEDS to act silly and be light-hearted, otherwise she has no powers.

Although, if you remove Red and Pinkie's dialogue and reactions, then I probably would've enjoyed the fight more than I did

I got no issue with them at all, it takes a lot of REALLY bad mistakes to make me not find the best in a story.....and RD is coming close to that in this fic.

@Bad That's how they shouldn't be. She isn't aware of her status as a cartoon in the show, so I find it wrong that so many interpretations of her have her somehow aware of it with no explanation.

I'm basically with Lurker on this one; I like it best when Pinkie's quirks derive primarily from her personality rather than from her self-awareness. The Looney Tunes style gags are only there to emphasize the quirks of her personality, not define it completely. I have nothing against that style of humor (I thought 8BitTheater was hilarious), but it tends to screw up the willing suspension of disbelief again when everything in the story is internally consistent except for her.

I don't think it's wrong to interpret the character as breaking the 4th wall on occasion, but I do think that a lot of people emphasis that aspect of the humor too much to the exclusion of the character based jokes. Stuff like the "I keep balls stashed all over town in case of emergency" is funny just because Pinkie is the type of pony who would totally go to the trouble of stashing balls in random places. It shows off the randomness of her personality without giving her 4th-wall breaking abilities.

One she lifted into the air with magic and then crushed, dropping its broken body to the floor like a broken doll. Another she flung so high into the air that it smashed against the ceiling several dozen yards above. Two more she smashed into one another, their static-charged hoof-guards shocking each other into pieces. To the last of his front line, she seemed to cast a teleportation spell, and it vanished into thin air. He never saw that one again.

And all of this was done at once.

I swear she didn't show that kind of effortless skill when facing Twi.

Depends if I can get it proofread or not. I'd want it to get Beta'd before it goes up on Fimfiction or anything like that.

Yeah, I agree - I'm not fond of the "Pinkie Pie is pony Deadpool" interpretation. Her "breaking the fourth wall" in the show has amounted to little more than a couple Iris Out gags. She's just like something out of a Looney Toons thing.

ah bananas, always bring a banana to a party...you never know when you could end up inventing the banana daiquiri two centuries early.

Pinkie defies physics far more than she breaks the fourth wall, anyway. Heck, I think Spike holds the record for most fourth wall breakings in a single episode (Lesson Zero). Not to mention the scene in PYHD where Iron Will more or less addresses the audience directly, prompting very confused looks from Rarity and Pinkie.

all depends on if we're talking Cannon or Fic, yeah i'm with J teeth in cannon portrayals, but fan-fics...all depends on the specifics, long as it's funny enough and not totally stupid or overdone I got no issue.

Yeah the only power she has in canon is her pibkie sense and as pinkie said it only gives vague and random predictions about the future.
