I imagined Soarin' buzzing Pinkie when he realizes she's going to throw the pie. Then she throws the pie at him and he votes her through because the pie is delicious.

I'm sure they could, but it would manifest a bit differently.

All the Power of Love did was enhance Shining Armor's shield spell. It was more or less a straight up power boost, rather than anything specific. The real question, though, is whether or not that power was made usable because of Cadence's abilities. She does appear to be affiliated with Love the same way Celestia and Luna are affiliated with Day and Night, so the ability to harness its power directly might be exclusive to her.

Knowing him he probably has self-destruct chips inside the Mean 6 in the event that they turn on him.

he seemed to be expecting Starlight to turn on him (it was the REASON behind her insubordination that freaked Silver out, not the mere fact that she did it, I noticed)
