Good news everyone: Espers no longer grant stats. So training can only apply to getting magic and giving espers to non-spellcasters has NO POINT.
And F*** Ace is ahead of me now. I really need to catch up.

The original game was easy enough that the stat gains from Espers were largely unnecessary unless one was doing a low or minimum level or some other very restricted challenge run.
