I once considered writing a fic that contained deer. Bucks and does had different types of magic available to them, with Bucks being capable of offensive magic, and does capable of defensive magic. I didn't really have a plot to go with it, though, so it never went anywhere.

Though I did have a fic idea for a story where an unspeakably powerful foe threatens Equestria and it proves so mighty that the only thing the elements can do to preserve even the smallest bit of harmony is to teleport ALL of Equestria's populace to earth. Then it woud turn out that Humans WERE the foe that threatened Equestria and the elements sent ponykind back in time so they could befriend humanity before it destroyed him

or some junk. I was in a weird when I came up with that
