@ Red, exactly, the ONLY hard rule that has been set for Cutie Marks is that they appear when the pony has an epiphany about what it is they are meant to do. how they reach that epiphany and just what it is varies widely from pony to pony

Actually...looking closer at that, it looks like she's not holding them in her hoof, but holding them against the edge of the fireplace, which is actually totally possible.

Also, I envision some kind of contouring, that ponies sand their hooves down a certain way so they have a bit of "grip" to help manipulate things.

My headcanon is that pegasi have tactile telekinesis and earth ponies can manipulate gravity to get things to stik to their hooves.

I just go with the headcannon that ponies magic allows them all some very low level tactile telekinesis which they instinctively focus through there hooves not enough to let them big up really heay sstuff, but enough for some light stuff to stick to there hooves, and that is why TK is the only universal ability for unicorns, they are simply amplifying the innate ability of all ponies and projecting it out wards.

Yeah, and I'm surprised by the backlash that got (especially since I've used that exact quote in this thread before and nobody criticized it before now). I thought it was pretty much accepted fact.

Well for one thing, all three methods contradict each other.

Then again, it is buffered by the fact that the ponies are all telling personal recollections and the details could be a little fuzzy.

Nah man, it's allright. This little discussion going on isn't really all that bad, even though I have nothing to contribute to it. No one seems to be talking about Pony poop anymore, so I don't think I'll be scared away that easily for now.

@Story: No, I've been on this site ever since late the second episode of season two came out, I just stuck to the Yack Feast thread untill now. I have posted here a few times before, but it's usually so rare of me to post here that I kinda get forgotten about.

really MLP has by far the least rabid shipping fanbase of almost any major fanbase. mostly becuase there are just so damn MANY options.

Shippings fine as long as you don't go all Ship-to-Ship Combat. Personally, I support multiple contradictary ships.

EDIT:Applejack/Rainbow Dash/Soarin' is kind of a OT 3 for me.

And to a lesser extent Rarit/Spike/Fluttershy.

@Marston: I'm pretty sure you know my thoughts on it already.

But yeah, I don't really mind shipping as long as there's no Ship-to-Ship Combat and it doesn't become a Romantic Plot Tumor in a non-shipping story.

As for pairings, I like Applejack/Twilight, Applejack/Rarity, and Fluttermac. Yeah, the last one is a cliche at this point, but I still think it's cute.
