It was a robot that was indestructible unless it broke down. It's opponents couldn't threaten it at all.

I had the same reaction when I heard Red Dwarf was coming back.

Anyway, I loved how Craig Charles would always chew the scenery in Robot Wars.

Ah, Robot Wars. I remember its regional cousin, Battle Bots :D
