Ginger, I think you would Enjoy "Wizards First Rule" By Terry Goodkind. As long as you pretend there is no series it's actually a pretty good book on it's own and it has the psychotic manipulative villain to boot.

@Ginger You know, you should really just try things. I mean, we all know that in the long run your villain hangup doesn't mean as much as you think it means (just look at what thread you're posting in). If you try something and don't like it, no harm done, just stop watching/reading. If you do like it, then you found something you like.

@Soulless: Well, the hero is a morally grey Chessmaster who is seeking revenge against the villain for killing his wife and daughter, by which I mean he wants to murder the guy rather than get him arrested. The villain, on the other hand, is a complete and utter Magnificent Bastard and has come out ahead from almost every encounter he has had with the hero, and who's identity is still unknown.

I've watched enough of The Mentalist to know that Ginger probably wouldn't like it, just because the hero is unbearably smug a lot of the time. I have a way higher tolerance for that than Ginger does, and it even bugs me a little.

@Lurker If I ignore the villain thing then I might as well try EVERYTHING you guys reccomend to me, and I just can't do that. I need to narrow things down SOMEHOW, and this is the only way I know how.

I imagine there are a couple ponies who get seriously drunk a few months after cider season (The ones who kept their cider purchases in the cellar to "Age")

Also, Why isn't the apple family much richer than they actually are? Ticket master shows that they are in a slight shortage of money but SCS 6 K shows that they practically have a monopoly on cider sales and Zap apples in Ponyville. The royalties from Filthy Rich alone should be more than enough to support them.

@Ginger No one is going to be offended if you don't try something. Just pick something at random and go for it! Besides, you only have so many recommendations thrown at you because you ask for them and immediately shoot them down because you're so picky.

@Steve That's actually pretty accurate to how most real farms run. They make a lot of money, but it all goes back into the farm, so they more or less always break even.

@Soulless: Not sure, but, to give you an example of what sort of villain he is, he once decided that, instead of just murdering someone who said on public TV that he should seek redemption, he'd mentally torture her until she believed that she was dead, and the only way that they could get her to speak, or do anything was by pretending like they were communing with her dead spirit.

@Crow: A combination of finals, my job, and other various projects I'm working on. Pretty much all the hours that I used to spend on school are now being spent working so I can afford my car insurance.
