@Lyra: I don't know, I've put the story on my to-read-later list at the moment.

There's amusing fanart of changelings abusing their shapeshifting to make out in other forms beside their own

There's a great one on Ponibooru where they take the forms of Cadence and Chrysalis

I suppose if I had a Changeling partner, I'd ask them to invent an original appearance for themselves. Also I wonder about changelings who have had real friends and took on their identity to honor their memory or something.

I'd like to imagine a scenario where a Changeling makes a really good friend but loses them to some tragic accident. They then take on their late friend's identity to help them finish unfinished business.
