Well if copyrights/trademarks to Applejack, Spike, and Minty are the only G1 characters they've held on to, then probably not. Were there even toys of Megan, Tirac, or any of the other non-pony characters?

They could always introduce a new centaur that's basically a Tirac Expy. In fact in some ways Nightmare Moon is a Tirac expy since she used the same The Night That Never Ends plot.

He's ugly when he stands still, but as long as he's moving around it doesn't look as bad.

I still think he looks threatening, just in a different way. He's more the sort you don't expect to be scary, until he suddenly does something badass. You never know when he's gonna snap

I'll admit, I don't want to see Discord dead. But at the same time, you can't have him just in the background. He'd be a major Elephant In The Living Room otherwise.

He's not something you can ignore like the Elements or Nightmare Moon. The former were plot devices (and indeed are again), and the latter was pretty well defeated. Discord is a Reality Warper Eldritch Abomination. He's not something you can just go back to every few episodes, and since Hasbro wants the show to be viewable in any order, they can't make a grand season-long epic.

A better idea would be to have him defeated and resealed, or otherwise taken out of commission, at the end of the two-parter. That way, if the production team decides to revisit the character, they can do so without having to explain where he's been for the last ten episodes.

Sorry if I'm harping on the subject. I'm just...really concerned about the show. This is one of the best shows to premiere in a long time, and I want to see it stay that way. Faust leaving isn't what worries me; she only got the show off the ground, and the three episodes she penned weren't the greatest. I'd probably feel better when they actually release more info on episodes besides this one.

What's there to be concerned about. The show still seems fine from the one minute clip we've seen of it

Discord will become a recurring character. And the Ensemble Darkhorse.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if Discord just managed to escape at the end of the two parter, popped up a few times during the season to screw with the cast, and finally gets taken out for good during the finale. The individual Discord episodes (other than the multi-part ones) could simply be standalone.

Now I'd be fine with that. It's just his power level that I'm concerned about. He's stronger than Celestia, meaning that the Mane cast are no match for him whatsoever. How would his episodes go if they can't really defeat him?

I don't know that we can say he's stronger. It might just be that he's too slippery for Celestia to seal on her own.

He can casually alter a pony's species at will. Even if he's not stronger than Celestia, he's still too much for the mane cast to handle, unless he starts suffering from some serious Villain Decay

I think we just need more info. We don't know what the source of his powers are, and how the Elements of Harmony affect them.

My guess is that he's going to be de-powered at the end of the two parter, and show up as a reoccurring villain after that. Whether this is a good thing depends on how good the character is.

Also, I'm pretty sure Discord is going to be the new Molestia. This is probably not a good thing.

The only singing I've heard De Lancie do was some goofy tunes he did for the "Spock vs. Q" audio tape.

But he wasn't too bad.

Random tangent: I hope we see more My Little Pony/Final Fantasy crossover fanart and stuff in the future. It's just hit me; Chaos is the god of discord, and Discord is the god of chaos.
