That's nice Maxi, but the Mane Six are more complex than mere Moe archtypes [lol]

The longest Book I've read? I suppose that might be the unabridged version of The Stand,

@Moe Dantes: do you really think you're the only one on the whole forum whose read Lord of the Rings all the way through? I did, and I don't even like Lord of the Rings.

My specific line was "LOTR and Romance of the Three Kingdoms."

But that reply was a knee-jerk reaction and probably should not be taken seriously. Seraphem was basically saying I must be an uneducated idiot because I don't agree with him, and specifically to his claim that I'm "used to being spoonfed" and can't pick up on nuances because of it. If that were true, a book like Three Kingdoms would be completely incomprehensible to me.

[up][up]I read that one too. I can wholeheartedly say it was abridged for a good reason.

@ginger: Have you ever considered books on tape?

@Pan: For the record, most of us are against pony superiority.

What exactly do you mean by Pony Superiority?

[up]I think his worst vice is NEVER WRITING A DECENT ENDING.

Wait a moment, who is talking about pony superiority?

[up]If I remember, The dead zone ended in a relatively satisfactory manner. Of course, it's been ages since I read the noel.

I have no idea. I just came onto the topic and suddenly Moe's going on about how other races can't be in Equestria or something.

Says the guy who burned through the first three books of A Song of Ice and Fire in a couple months. I don't know if you're in college, or have a job, or what, but that's much better than I managed I really need to set more time aside for reading.

So, I really liked the extended version of Love Is In Bloom.
I have a message from another time...

I don't know how many times I've told Ginger he's not a slow reader. I can't stand books on tape either, I will NEVER listen to one.

I really need to listen to this Love is in Bloom extended thing. Too bad I have no headphones handy.

If House of Leaves counts, then that. If not, off the top of my head I'd say maybe Watership Down. I don't usually remember book length very well.

I'll probably never listen to the full version of LIIB. Too sad for me. Just remembering it is bringning a lump to my throat

Reading is pretty much my favorite pastime. :3 I even use Conan as a bathroom companion.

Er, or is that too much information?

Now as for favorite novels, I'm terribly fond of Foucault's Pendulum.

I used to read a lot, but over the last few years, I just never seemed to get around to it.

House of Leaves is a LOT shorter than it looks, what with all those dozens of pages that only have a single line of text, or just one word. Btw, House of Leaves is my single favorite book of all time.

[up]I mostly just read at work now.

@ginger: Yeah, I wouldn't worry about that too much. As long as you enjoy what you're reading it really doesn't matter how quickly you get through it. I read pretty fast, but I also don't retain very much.
Moe Dantes avatar

Really, I'm not sure what all the focus on page count is about. The operative thing is that the books I picked required you to be able to pick up on things that weren't explicitly spoonfed to you (which Seraphem claimed I was unable to do).

Course, I could've just said "Dude, I watch anime." But I wasn't thinking at the time.

@ginger I'm not a fast reader either. But remember that Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

And speaking of race...

@Pony Superiority

Summary of argument:

I, Moe Edmond Dantes, am stating that in my headcanon, the world of Equestria (or country or whatever) is Pony-dominated. The only non-pony intelligent characters are either fringe societies like the Buffalo and Diamond Dogs who clearly exist independently, or else characters like Spike who can be taken as "not representative of their race" on what I call the Meowth Principle.

I specifically stated I consider episodes like "Dragon Quest" and "Mystery on the Friendship Express", among others, discontinuity because they present elements that interfere with this idea.

I just realized something - we don't know if Las Pegasus is supposed to represent Las Vegas or Las Angelos.
