On the subject of that one article that was mentioned, and brony haters...

There are two kinds of brony haters that I know of. Those who hate the show on principle (It's girly, so it sucks) and those who moreover hate the bronies who bring up the show EVERYWHERE, much to the chagrin of those who don't watch it.

I can't say I care for the first group. They can go screw off, and I tend to ignore them. They don't know shit, and their argument is weak.

The second group, however, has a point. Being a brony myself before ever being accosted about becoming one, I have never experienced this. However, I make sure never to mention Fi M unless it seems fit (ie a lot of pony sprays on tf2, a brony server on tf, etc.), and even then I try to keep it to a minimum. Even though I like the show, I try to distance myself a bit when I talk to others about it in public. Because honestly, when I heard someone say "We're like the CMC!" because there were 3 of us and we liked the show, I felt mortified.

I'm not one to go around mixing my fandoms, I understand how annoying omnipresence can be, having to deal with it for years here *coughtouhogunnerkriggcourthomestuckcough*. The ones bothered by the ubiquitousness of the fandom at least have a point. The ones that attempt to some silly social standard can bite me.

Yeah, I only mention the show if it's appropriate. Shoehorning it into everything will only irritate people.

But, to be fair, we all have things we hate.

I try to be more discreet so I dont come off like those crazed fans.

Also, the guys who are pissed at the superiority that some bronies have over people who don't also have a point, at least towards the people who do that.

Added the Changelings as an example at Death Cloud's suggestion. Now to just wait until someone formats it better.

I just heard Katy Perry's California Girls and I immediately thought of Equestria Girls.

I'm not sure if that's funny or sad.

Fandoms are messy, messy things.

I'm sure MLP has less Fan Dumb than other fandoms, anyway. It's still there, but not as much in my experience.

I find that I have to look a little harder for it. There is quite a bit of it, but it's surprisingly easy to ignore.

It's certainly there, but it's not as bad as, to name some random examples, the Star Wars fandom or the Doctor Who fanbase.

Or, apparently, the Sonic fanbase.

Well, the games are getting better, so it's beginning to mellow out slightly.

Anyway, I don't really bother with making these kinds of comparisons any more. All fandoms have their quirks.

I wonder why the brony Fan Dumb is so limited compared to other fandoms... I guess the people who would normally make up the Fan Dumb make up the Hate Dumb instead...
