Actually, I'd say a film would be the best opportunity we'd have to see the backstory of Celestia and Luna

Maybe the mane 6 travel back in time to turn Luna back to normal instead of locking her in the moon, but when they come back they see that everything has changed and now Celestia has been overtaken by the force that created Nightmare Moon...

On the subject of Luna, I'm just gonna toss this theory in here:

An outside force (maybe Discord) gave her the idea that night wasn't as appreciated as day, and that slowly caused her to become Nightmare Moon. Luna's not entirely at fault, since she would've noticed eventually, but the suggestion sped up the process.

@Chada Hasbro doesn't have a large enough bank to hold all the money.

Agreed that a movie would be the best place for full Royal Sisters backstory. Though we KNOW who the Big Bad to end all Big Bads has to be for a movie that big.....imagine...they could run the movie projector just on the FUCK YES and Squueing generated by having the villain be Tirac.

@story You don't see it? They both fit the Only Sane Man trope and they are weirded out and annoyed by there wacky partner, and both of them tends are to panic when something goes completely wrong.

Long as they keep the quality high, I'd be fine with ending the series (round about season 5), having a MASSIVE full box office movie, then continuing with the occasional made or DVD movie.
