Rarity's definitely faking her accent; it drops when she's stressed or frazzled.

Ha, she would. I've never met anybody in person with an accent like that.

I'm not sure I'd call it New England money, though, unless you mean like Nantucket or something...

Its just in a movie, if someone talks like that, it's cause they're a WASP or something.

I wasn't expecting much in particular from the finale (the last season's finale was just another episode imo), so this one blew all of expectations. The Changeling Queen is easily the best villain this series has had and the overall darker/more mature tone of the episodes gives me major hope that this show will continue to evolve in the way that I wish. I loved how the episode wasn't resolved with the Elements of Harmony and that the villain was actually smart/capable enough to prevent them from using them. I loved the Queen's/Cadance's song so much, though most of the songs are hit and miss for me in this series. I loved Cadance and Shining Armor, even though they were both new characters who we were expected to believe were totally around the whole time. I loved that the episode focused on THE PLOT of the episode, rather than throw a bunch of cameos in to please the fans (still glad we got a glimpse of Luna). I love that, once again, it is acknowledged that the Mane 6 are extremely badass.

There's a few minor things I didn't care for but they really don't matter, compared to all the good the finale had to offer any complaints I have are pure nitpicking. With the exception of Twilight's BBBFF song. From the beginning, the songs in this show have fallen into one of two categories for me: painfully, cringe-inducingly cheesy, or awesome. It's been a fairly even split along those lines, so it's not too surprising that the finale contained one of each. I seriously can't listen to BBBFF without cringing and lowering the volume, yet One Day Aria is wonderful. But who cares, other people seem to like it so it's not objectively bad.

It's completely amazing to me that I actually enjoyed these episodes more than the episode of Legend of Korra which also aired today. I'm sorry if that sounds dismissive, I'm just a really huge Avatar fan. I've been a fan of this show for about 6 months now, but over time my opinion of it has wavered. I've never lost interest, but there have been plenty of times I could see myself giving up the show if it ever changed a little to much in the wrong direction for me. This finale turned my opinion around. I'll be happily awaiting the beginning of Season 3, and I fully expect to enjoy the next season in it's entirety. Hopefully the wait won't be too hard on us.

I love love loved the Villain Song. Reminded me of Ursula singing to the mirror.

Huh, I think you're the first person yet to rag on BBBFF, Blue. I can see what you mean by it being kinda cheesy, but it's cheesy in the same way that Winter Wrap Up was (heck, it's even structured and instrumented rather similarly now that I think about it). It's catchy, and the emotion really does show through. Of course, it can't hold a candle to the Aria, but I don't think anything this show has done so far can either, at least IMO. Britt McKillip needs to do more serious stuff, she's amazingly talented.

Like I said, other people enjoy it, so I'm not really complaining. I'll just skip it on any subsequent watches. For reference:

  • Awesome songs: Winter Wrap Up, At The Gala, Smile Smile Smile (Took me a long time to warm up to, though), Becoming Popular

  • Cringe-worthy songs: BBBFF, Find A Pet, anything sung by Pinkie that wasn't Smile Smile Smile... hm, can't really think of any more, I think I'm missing something.

I still cannot get it out of my head that Shiny and Cadence were dating, then Cadence's parents found out and he was made an offer he couldn't refuse [lol]

I still kinda wonder if it was a Shotgun Wedding, but her parents never showed up.

It's amazing how Cadance's singer manages to make good and evil Cadance sound different. You can really hear the disdainful sneer in evil Cadance's voice.

So everyone except Mio liked the finale, right?

I wonder if the opening of Season 3 will be this epic? Maybe they'll tone it down a little, start with a more slice-of-life opening this time?

Btw, do we know when season 3 starts?

[up][up] Yeah. Not just the singing, either. Her whole performance has that great duality to it.

[up]Mio had a positive opinion of it. I think getting him to say "it was good, I guess" is quite an accomplishment.

I hope 3 starts with something epic, like 2 started with Discord.

Random note: I like how they averted Beauty is Never Tarnished with the real Cadance. She actually looked like she was starving. It made me really feel for her. I wonder how long she was down there?

Random note #2: Somebody (probably lots of somebodies) said it was said that Luna wasn't able to attend the wedding, but I noticed they timed it so that the wedding was at sunset, allowing Luna to attend the reception with everyone else (which is the actual fun part of a wedding).

We already talked about that a little bit. The consensus was around a few days.

I'm actually curious about something. What exactly makes them cringe-worthy? Is it the lyrics? The singing?

I'm asking because I don't ever really have a problem with songs unless the song is just really bad. Unless you've answered this before. In which case, whoops I missed it.

Sunset thing: Yeah, I thought that was a nice touch.

[up][up]I dunno, Art of the Dress is just kind of forgettable to me. I'll go listen to it and see.

[up]Mostly lyrics, but I've always kind of had a kneejerk negative reaction to musical segments. I just find the whole idea corny and lame. It's a testament to this shows quality that I actually like some of the songs.

The thing is, I'm usually the first one to find something sappy or sentimental, but MLP has allowed me to kind of grow out of it. I think I'm better at relating to people because of the show.

Okay, upon further inspection, the "possibly Trixie cameoing as a hornblower" I mentioned actually has the generic Lyra Heartstrings/Amethyst Star tail style (which does have the same shape as Trixie's tail style, but is slightly different within that shape), so even though Trixie's made background cameos before ("Bridle Gossip", "The Return of Harmony Part 1"), this was probably just a generic unicorn after all.

Also, I just noticed that when Celestia starts her speech at the real wedding, Derpy's in the bottom-right corner and glances at either the camera or somepony behind her.

My Little Pony has become one of those shows that I just cannot miss, no matter what happens. If that doesn't seem like much, then I'll just say the last time this happened was when the original Digimon series first aired. Big props to the team for making the show so damned addictive :3

[up][up]I can never be sure if I'm a Watsonist or a Doylist, so mistakes always got me like, do I disregard it, or is it canon?

Also, I'm staying up till we reach 7000. Then, bedtime.

Well I didn't find it cringe-worthy, but I don't particularly like it either. The music is good, the singing's good, but it doesn't really wow me for whatever reason. I think the biggest reason is all the talking interspersed throughout the song. I really don't like it when songs mix in regularly spoken lines. See also Find A Pet.
