@Turtle: Oh, you probably have some kind of ability, you just need to find it.

Star Swirl, I wonder what kind of ability my type of bioelectrical effect is. The nice thing is that it isn't volatile enough for me to accidentally zap a hard drive or floppy disk dead [lol] Or I could not indulge my hobby of technomancy [lol]

@Kegisak:

@Sereg Analyzing magic?

Bingo. Well, that and explaining it (which is of course the harder ability to roleplay[lol]

@Turtle: It's not like it comes up day-to-day. It's basically just a party trick I can do, unless I wanted to gather the materials to find something more complicated, but even then I wouldn't know exactly how to do it.

...Still, it is admittedly kind of neat to know I can do something like that.

As I feared they would, they pronounced Walpurgisnacht wrong.tongue

I know Japanese doesn't naturally have the English v in it, but...tongue

Well, the fans deliberately mispronounce and mis-spell it for fun sometimes, Crowlover. Whatsburger Night, Walmart Night, Walrus Night, Walt Disney Night, Brazilian Night, Walgreens Night...

Well, Purple Dalek, I've already studied Pinkie Sense. It is indeed a fascinating ability, but I've worked out how it works. Unfortunately, it is beyond my ability to copy.

As for your abilities, Ace of Scarabs, I'd have to investigate to discover how they work.
Fascinating. I must investigate!

We've got posters from Singapore, Mexico, America, Canada, Ireland - hell, even from Wales.

Don't forget one from space.

Argh! I forgot to say that her talent also includes recording magic, though you could argue that that is simply part of explaining it.

OOC: And another hint is given!

Care to explain?

The ability to Douse runs in my family(And despite popular belief, dowsing is not something anyone can do. Not only is it an inherent and hereditary 'knack', you also need certain materials for certain things, etc.). I'm convinced that certain skills that have been historically referred to as 'magic' do exist, but are really only the result of some form of energy we have yet to learn how to measure.

Can you dowse? Why not try testing it scientifically?

If I never see another vampire for as long as I live, it'll be too soon.

And yet you like Manfred von Karma.

@Storyyeller: Star Swirl likes to treat magic as a Science ie. she likes analysing it ie. that's her special talent. Well, the exact wording is "Analysing magic, recording the results and explaining them".

@Story: Well, I actually have - though in a non-rigorous sense. See, Dowsing applies to any object your trying to find, though can only find certain objects. The easiest one to find(because of the convenience of the materials) is known as 'witching the baby' - witching being another term for dowsing. It requires a gold ring(white gold will do as well), a string, and a person(In this case, a woman who has had children). You dangle the ring from the string over the wrist of the woman's dominant hand, and if you can dowse, it will begin to sway in a certain patter. How it sways depends on the gender of the baby the woman has had - back and forth for a boy, and in a circle for a girl.

I've done this on two women - my mother and a teacher. Both women had children of genders I was unaware of(It counts babies that were stillbirths or miscarriages; my mother miscarried twins between my older brother and I). For my mother it swung four times - three boys, and one girl. First a boy(my brother), then another boy(twin 1) then a girl(twin 2) then a third boy(myself). For my teacher it swung twice - A boy, then a girl. I had assumed my teacher had two boys, proving that it's accurate even when I myself am misinformed.

Obviously for it to be called scientific I'd have to test it more rigorously - several women whom I've never met before, some of whom have never been pregnant, etc.) Alternatively it also works if you hold it over someone's head - in this case it works for men and women, but will only tell their gender(I've always wondered how it would react to a transsexual or a hermaphrodite) - or over a pregnant woman's belly - in which case it tells the gender of the child, and presumably the number. So obviously there are scientific ways to test it, and with other materials as well, should I be curious enough to look them up. It's also been demonstrated that the knack isn't available to everyone; I can dowse better than my borther, for example(My string will sway more violently than his), and my mother can't do it at all.

@ Ginger, well Dresden Files has vampires in it, though there just one of many creatures, and it covers all the bases, undead Dracula like Black Court, the more modern Blood-sucking demon Red Court, and the White Court which are called Vampires but are actually better described as Succubi and Inccubi.

I'm pretty sure that everybody has some sort of supernatural ability, it's just that most of them are so obscure and useless that 99.9 percent of people never notice them. I'm pretty sure mine is the ability to make people terrible at ping pong just by being in the same room as them. tongue

I seem to be more sensitive to EM fields then other people I know, I can just know when some large electronic device is on nearby, like a TV, I can just sort of hear this really specific hum that no ones else I've met ever does.

My electrical effect was easy to test, it always fouls up old FM radio reception when I'm standing a certain distance from the antenna. It's running at a voltage too low for me to cook electronics, but high enough to mess with radio frequencies.

@L Mage: I'm pretty sure that ability comes standard; the specific site varies, though.

[up][up]Yeah, I have that too. I remember once I couldn't get to sleep for like 3 hours, and then I realized it was because the tv in the next room was on, but turned to an auxiliary channel. Turned it off and went right back to sleep.

[up][up][up]That may just be exceptional hearing - it's this high pitched little squeal, right? I can hear those too, my hearing has absurd range.

Still, it's well above the normal human limit so it is fairly exceptional.
