Still, even then. As I said, it's difficult to imagine anything more than friendship with any of them. If I were forced to choose, mmmaybe Fluttershy, because I find shyness cute, but I guess I also prefer being able to actually have a conversation...Still probably have to go with Twilight. We'd have the most in common, and she energetic enough to still interest me. Maybe Rarity as well, but I must admit anything fashion related exasperates me - the price of sharing a campus with idiot fashion students.
I think we're having difficulty imagining having a relationship with them because the show's goal is to treat women as independent, capable characters who are in control of their life- the show never told us what they thought of the opposite sex except for Rarity and her dream of finding Him at the Gala (and we know how that turned out!).
I think we're having difficulty imagining a relationship with them because they're ponies...

No, no, shota has a point. I mean, yeah, ponies, but try and transpose the personalities onto a human form, and still doesn't really work. We never see them in a context where a relationship is even a thing close to happening. So why would we imagine them in a romantic concept, when we have no idea how they would react to it?
I think it's a combination. I can sort of see that a human girl with say, Twilight's personality could be considered attractive, but it's tough to imagine the possibility of a relationship because we have no information about how they would react to romance. It's just not something that the show concerns itself with.
Maybe that's why pony shipping seems so weird to me.

This. A thousand times this.

Strangely, pony/pony stuff doesn't weird me out too much. Probably because it's still within the confines of the show, so as long as the tone matches, it can still fit. It's trying to transfer that into the real world that makes it not work.
Well, to be fair, almost all shipping kind of bugs me to some degree. It's just that doing it with ponies adds an extra Squick factor, I guess.

I ship stranger, I ship stranger.
What about my first story? That was a shipping story that worked. And it really a friendship story.
"You're my favourite Princess ever!"
I ship Sir Lintsalot and Mme Laflour.
"You're my favourite Princess ever!"
I like them in the same way I like the Looney Tunes. They're ANIMALS. Even if their personalities and appearances are the most appealing ever.
^^We're not discussing fanfiction, Rich, just shipping. =) I know it's still fanon, but hey.
Anyway, as I've said before, I have no issue with pony/pony shipping. The majority of fanon says that Lyra and Bonbon have a stable, happy relationship, which is a hell of a lot healthier than some rather popular human ships I can name. So, yeah; I have no issue with that.
Human/pony ships, on the other hand, I shouldn't even have to talk about.

What about Pony / Griffin?
I am sorry But I don't like shipping at all.

I'm fine with pony/gryphon. I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I wasn't, given that I'm basing a story on
what I read as Gilda's crush on Dash.

^GildaShy fan, eh? Just saying, I'm writing a GildaDash story and would therefore be remiss if I didn't support pony/gryphon.
