I think the idea is that if the team responsible for putting it together consists of fans, it'll drift into something that appeals to their demographic to the point of exclusion of the actual target audience.

Well, think of it from an individual basis - if some guy sang the praises of a webcomic that he made, regardless of how good it was or wasn't he'd still come across as arrogant, wouldn't he?

And I know this isn't quite the same as animation, but in Video Games dev teams are very, very rarely pleased with a game when it ships - there's always the feeling of 'we could have done better'. So I can imagine that saying your pleased with how something you've worked on came out, it could show to other people in the industry that you don't set high standards for yourself.

I was thinking more the essense that corrupted Luna in the first plaace. I can imagine it singing a song trying to tempt Luna into giving in to the dark side.

I thought it was pretty much confirmed that some ulterior force was what corrupted Luna, or at least it wasn't entirely her own doing. She was still responsible for her own actions, but there was something else that was egging her on and amplifying her negative emotions

Why? I think it's a good idea, it would provide some great pathos for Luna should the corrupting force ever return. If the line between "what she did herself" and "what she was forced to do" was made itentionally blurry, then the force could come off as a great Manipulative Bastard, who could make Luna doubt herself
