Also, is it me or does Rumble have a filly-ish shape to him?

Her head is really heavy. That's the problem. She probably hit her head as a foal and has a plate in it now.

Flapping one's wings doesn't necisarrily generate lift, in the way that flailing one's legs at the ground does not necessarily equate running. I imagine there's a technique to flying, and she's just sort of... flailing. If her wings are at the same angle on the upstroke as the downstroke she's pushing herself down as much as up, so there's that.

Ot maybe she's just FAT. A FATTY, FATTY FAT-CAKES PEGASUS. FATASUS.

[up][up]Eh, they're all kinda shaped like that when they're young.

Course, it may mean a girly-boy pegasus when he grows up, which wouldn't have me complaining, I can tell you.

Maybe pegasi become good at flying once they earn their cutie marks?

I always assumed it was the size of her wings... but Rumble's are about the same size... maybe it's one of those details that we can't see...

I wonder what Rumble's wing power was

[up][up] I certainly hope so waii Bishie pegasus

Roid pony manages to fly with tiny wings.

I don't think Rumble was actually flying in that tornado, though. Too dangerous for a kid. He was probably just there for support, or something? Or hell, maybe he showed up so he could tell dash Thunderlane wouldn't make it?

Nope, Rainbow Dash was already flying before her cutie mark. I imagine there are plenty of other flying blank flanks in the background as well (mostly at Flight Camp).

[up][up] Or Rumble is just badass.

[up] And my theory just fell apart quicker than a cardboard box in a giant glass of milk.

[up][up][up] He was in the queue of pegasi

Blossomforth was off sick too wasn't she?

I've actually seen the ship Cloud Chaser/Rumble

The shippers have already run with that.

Eh, I figure he was just queuing up so that he could say Thunderlane was sick when he got to the front of the line.

I mean, the kid looks younger than Scoots. He sounds young, too. there's no way he'd be in that Tornado. Some of the older pegasi were getting jerked around by that thing.

[up][up][up] I assumed that the second I saw them

Cloud Chaser and Flitter... sisters or lesbians? Or both?

[up] Why queue up at all though? couldn't he just walk to the front of the line?

Also, RD reacted to Rumble like she was expecting him to be in the queue

I'd say sisters.

Because he's an adorably polite little sprog? He didn't want to be rude by cutting in front? I mean, he was the only kid there - he probably stood out in that respect, that might be why RD spotted him in the crowd.

[up] but it looked like the queue was only for ponies that were signing up for participation.

RD knew he was in the queue before she called his name I think... like she expected him to be there

So he hopped in to say his brother wouldn't be there.

Or, maybe he was trying to take his brother's place? He'd have to have been turned away, but it does seem like the kind of thing a kid his age would do.

Dude, why are you all calling it a queue? Just because they're in a line doesn't mean they're lining up for something. If you ask me, it was likely more a takeoff formation than anything.

[up][up] Again, my main point is that RD recognized him and reacted like she expected him to be there in the queue/formation/thing

[up] I'm BRITISH!!! Queueing is half of all I know, next to complaining

We like a good queue almost as much as we like a good moan... and why do we like a good queue? So we can have a bloody good moan about it

And I figure he just stuck out. I wouldn't say she was so much expecting him as knew he was there; she might have seen him earlier or something. Maybe she heard somepony talking about him.

I just honestly can't see a kid that little participating. I mean, listen to his voice again. He sounds like he'd be barely 8 or 9.

[up] Since he was the only colt there, maybe he was unique? An especially good flyer...

I still question why the tornado itself is created by local civillians rather than trained professionals

Between Singapore, Japan, and the UK we have plenty of cultural queuing [lol]

You'd think they'd space out the takeoff formation to reduce head-to-flank collisions.

Eh, I'm going with the 'there to cover for Thunderlane" idea. Also, it was a recruitment test. Spitfire was there to check for any particularly strong fliers.

Huh, you know, it occurs to me about the wonderbolts: Sorain is a military stallion. We've seen wonderbolts on military operations, fighting Spike and the like. I wonder if the wonderbolts actually require/provide some degree of military training, or if they just happen to pull from the airforce frequently, but will accept 'civilian' flyers as well?

[up]Canada has plenty of queuing as well. We're just too polite not too.

Every Pegasus is a trained professional?

My headcanon is that Cloudsdale offers flight and weather training to any Pegasus that can fly. Possibly as a holdover from the era where every Pegasus would be trained in combat.

i still don't like the "recruitment test" theory... not EVERYTHING is some sort of conspiracy or test and I despise it when people seem to think that way...

[up] Still...

Fluttershy = Hasn't flown in any really serious capacity of complexity since her school years

or

A Cloudsdale worker who's been doing it his whole life and probably has a cutie mark to go along with it.

It just BUGS me
