With that preview thing, since Cranky Doodle Donkey showed up in Dragon Quest, it looks like Matilda is going to appear in the Mystery Express story. If that really is her, then it really seems like they're making an effort to make sure that characters introduced in earlier stories who might seem like they're just going to be in that story still appear in other stories or at least get mentioned (like with Trixie and the Cakes' babies in the latest story).

We've had tons of continuity nods this season. I think they can do anything as long as it's not an explicit reference to other episode plots.

Season Two as a whole has given up on not having continuity. All we need is Tank and Peewee to show up again and we'll be nearly perfect in terms of recurring characters.
