The sheer amount of hate and bigotry the CMC suffered was just disturbing. They're pretty much considered domestic terrorists for spreading gossip they were blackmailed into spreading in the first place. RD practically assaulted them.

@ginger: Well, not precisely. I think it was likely more just a jab at our tendency to give characters an Alternate Character Interpretation by giving pretty outright ludicrous ones.

She looks silly with a pink mane, and she's in a position of authority. It makes her look "stately".
