I loved Shakespeare in school.

Actually, Shakespeare is Early Modern English. Old English is completely incomprehensible.

[up] Eh. Doesn't stop Macbeth from kicking ass.

Did Macbeth speak Gaelic or Old English?

[up][up][up][up] I know right! Even early modern stuff has to be "translated" into comprehensible English by experts now. I know for a fact that Paradise Lost had to be reinterpreted for modern readers.

Could we channel the Ghost of Shakespeare and get him to write us a Pony episode?

Btw yeller, it's spelled Wyrd Sisters.

How to write a Pony episode in the Shakespeare fashion:

1. Title the episode for the name of a character. Bonus points if they're male.

2. Have the title character go mad (love, hate, vengeance, jealousy, etc)

3. The title character dies

But he would likely write a comedy. His comedies follow a specific format a lot less though.

I'm guessing Old English is Chaucer-Era?

Books from the Forties had to be reinterpreted to account for slang drifting, even.

As for a Shakespeare pony episode, I'd like a farcical comedy thanks.

Thanks, I was wondering why it was a red link.

By the way, I just checked this point in the thread two weeks ago, and there were 13758 posts. Shame that we didn't manage to average over 1000 posts per day this time.

I think Macbeth is a pretty cool guy. Seh trolls the protagonist with prophecies and doesn't afraid of anything.

@Ace Before mid-11th century. Then came the French and we got Middle English

No that's Middle English. Beowulf is Old English.

@crowlover: I was more referring to a book by this guy named Irving Wallace, Sunday Gentleman, which was written with amazingly archaic-sounding language even in the time period of world war 2. Seriously, language evolves fast.

Yeah, Old English only vaguely resembles modern English. I mean, I'm a fluent English speaker and I can barely make heads or tails of this.

Also, if Shakespeare wrote an episode it would definitely involve cross-dressing somehow.

I still re-watched the preview... at this pace, I will have seen a particular scene so many times that it will start getting annoying XD

[up] And yes, he sure does that a lot. It was especially useful when he wanted to show a young girl dressed in tight men's clothing...
