What I always hated was having to organize everything according to an uber-strict form that would lose you points if you deviated it from any way.

That's a problem with math classes, not math.

@Dalek What don't algebra, fractions, and divisions have to do with sex?

I still don't see what the fucking point of algeba, fractions or long division was.

You mean you don't use it in your everyday life? How sad.

@Story: I was actually referring to writing tests; you're supposed to organize the essays in a very specific manner, and as a writer, that drove me nuts.

I was fine with math until there started being more letters than numbers. At that point all hope was lost.

@crow [lol]

Seriously thought, as the leper once said to his wife, where's the point?

I guess I'm kind of biased, but I find it hard to imagine a life without math. What do you even plan to do?

[up][up] Can you be a bit more specific? I'm not sure what you're asking me.

[up] Cadence is the godess of maths.

[up] Oh right. Silly me. I'm planning on being a journalist one day and I suppose my biggest hobby is writing. I have a casual interest in history too I guess but not enought to join any clubs or pursue a career in it.

When you're a guy who invests heavily in computers and related technology, Maths comes in handy. Also it makes it much, much easier to count money [lol]

Also I expect Cadence to have some kind of embarrassing secret [lol]

I use crazy math every day in programming. Heck, I have to use trigonometry quite frequently for vector calculations. Just the other day I filled a whole sheet of paper with the algebra necessary just to get the hands of a virtual clock to cast a shadow in the right direction regardless of the angle they were facing. No need for calc yet, though.

[up] That's what bugs me. Yeah, I can understand why the Electrical Engineers need Calc 1-3, but what does a CECS major need with that?
Are you a bad enough dude to argue with waz? (your chances are better than you think, anyone can win if they use enough fallacies)

I haven't seen the need for anything more complex than juggling money with x-values, so I haven't needed to learn GCE "A" Maths. It's fun to know some of it so I can appreciate XKCD though.

I'm probably the only person in that school ever that every SINGLE teacher (at least the main course ones, not the fun elective ones) repeatedly told to STOP paying attention in class.
Well, what were you paying attention TO? smile

Heh, Maths. I got an A at GCSE level somehow, but I swear I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Some poor person must have got his results mixed up with mine. ^_^

I would imagine that I would need calculus for complex physics modeling, and I'm sure there are cool algorithms that use it as well. I just haven't come across the need for any of that yet.
