I wonder if Dragon Quest will have any Harry Potter references in it? Or to the dragon in The Hobbit or to any other famous dragons from fantasy literature? I also wouldn't be surprised if there were any references to the earlier My Little Pony stories, such as the earlier incarnations of Spike (perhaps a dragon who speaks with an RP accent and is looking for a princess or one who used to be forced to work for a villain) or to other dragons in the older stories, such as Whimsy from Twinkle Wish Adventure (who I think totally looks like Dragonite from Pokemon).

Confound this Equatorial climate, it's searing hot one day and then miserably monsoony the next

They might still be at the early transistor/vacuum tube stage of electronics, given that they don't even have any serious electronics around.
