I have all the episodes thus far downloaded nicely and mirrored n my tablet :D pony on demand, I might even downscale the episodes so I can cram them into an even older device I got that can play lowres divx videos.

@Allik: some sort of horrible mashup of the three government systems that teeters on being functional and near disaster. And then Discord showed up and all the government doesn't really matter anymore because Discord favors/causes anarchy. The Princesses are the ones who finally unite the three tribes. As well as getting rid of Discord, the ponies finally think that, you know what, let's just let these demigods rule. Or something.

Straight-haired dark Pinkie is basically wet Pinkie, right? So let's think back to when Pinkie Pie got wet. There was the time she got splashed by the river serpent in "Friendship Is Magic, part 2", and there was the time she got soaked with the chocolate rain she was drinking in "The Return Of Harmony, part 1". But I'm starting to forget, did Pinkie get dunked in anything in "Putting Your Hoof Down"?

@Allik: I don't know enough about political systems to be comfortable with talking about it in great details. But yeah that's sort of my headcanon at the moment. How plausible is that?

Hello ~~Luna Republic~~ Luna Appreciation Club.

1. What form of government was used between the time of the newly formed tripartite Republic(?)/Kingdom(?)/United States(?) of Equestria and the takeover by the God-Empresses?

Given our own history, it would be an oligarchy council of all three race of ponies headed by the Earth Chancellor, Pegasus Commander, and King/Princess or their appointed representative. That is until Discord shows up and wreaks havoc then its anarchy until they get the Princesses. But so little is shown about this period I wouldn't worry and just have fun with fanon and wild mass guessing

2. How much of an impact did the first appearance of Discord have on this transition/coup if any(assuming that they didn't already have direct/autocratic control of Equestria)?

What makes you say they were rulers of Equestria before Discord? It could be like Cronus and his kids where the Olympians took over after overthrowing the Titans.

But good food for thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone else has to say.

Thinking about it how would this Luna Republic work? Given that republics aren't known for having monarchs. Would that mean she would have to run for office every time an election rolls around?
