We're all assuming that Shining Armor is her older brother, right? I think it's interesting that his cutie mark has that same star pattern as hers inside a shield. Does that mean he got his cutie mark by protecting her from something and decided he wanted to become a knight to protect other ponies? And if so, does that mean that Twi's mark was preordained, or are similarities like that common in family member's cutie marks?

I can imagine that the starburst is a sign of the Sparkle family the same way the apple is a symbol of the Apple family. Makes sense. A knight's shield usually bears his family crest.

@Latenight: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Anyone with a username that follows a 'X the 14' pattern (aside from... whatsisname, Davidthemouse?) is part of Mousa's psyche. He tends to break rather easily.

Well more likely than not families have similar cutie marks, I mean just think for a second, the apple family has almost nothing but apple related cutie marks, the Flim Flam brothers have complementing marks, and of course Twilight's family all has to do with nighttime astral bodies, not even knight known as Shining Armour ca escape the cruse of simply being raised.
Naturally, even if his mark has to do with protection it implies he is still strongly connected to his family.

@Jazz: not in the normal regard but seeing those two characters specifically fucking each other...and yes I am very familiar with Mousa's illustrations as they're easy to find in the fandom.
