I'm pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of hidden details and sheer excellence of the show in general. It takes me back to the 90s, when cartoons were really getting good.

FIM reminds me more of the eighties, actually.
But I guess people will associate it with whatever their favorite decade is.

FIM is like all the best elements of both eighties and nineties cartoons rolled into one neat and colourful package.
The eighties bits are the team based, fantasty world style adventure elements, and the nineties bits are all the pop culture referances and wacky gags.

If they did do it, I would bet that:
Kyle or Stan and maybe Butters become bronies. Stan or Kyle, Kenny and Cartman represent the non fans (Cartman is the lol fags! type, and the others are reasonable sceptics). And then Randy becomes a brony...and represents the less pleasent sides of the fandom.
