He was poking fun at her to gain a profit. If someone needed something desperately the natural responses are either to be nice to them or think about how you can gain from the situation. It was a dick move assuredly but it was also quite pragmatic.

I'm not really sure how you want us to react to Angel in the last episode.
He acted like a terrible spoiled brat, and we judged him as such (though some more harshly then others).
Wasn't that before the seminar?

Seconded. He was pretty obviously acting like an entitled jackass. If somebody makes a freaking extra trip to the market solely to be able to make you some fancy meal, you don't throw it out and kick them out of their own house just because it doesn't have a cherry on top.
