Then does that mean they have It's Always Sunny In Fillydelphia? Cause man, how funny would that be.

So...if Fi M and Kingdom Hearts were to ever get a crossover, would that mean that nobodies that come from the ponies would be called noponies?

^Probably, yeah.

@Whoever it was last page: I agree about the meddling turning it into Slice of Life being a good thing. It'd be a little boring if every episode ended with In the Name of the Moon and taste the rainbow, motherfucker.

[up][up]Yeah I think it's pretty obvious Lauren Faust loves Sailor Moon. Specially of you think about her other project "the milky way and the galaxy girls"http://milkywayandthegalaxygirls.com/

Honestly, I enjoyed the magical girl episodes, even if the second one was shamelessly cheesy. Next to my top 3 among the slice of life episodes (CMC, WWU, Rainboom), those are the ones I probably rewatch the next most. I don't think it would benefit the series to swing it all the way back around and go full magical girl, but I think it would be nice to mix things up. Although now that I think about it, they did have a decent amount of pretty much full on adventure episodes, just minus the Elements of Harmony, so I think I'd be happy if they kept the exact same magical girl to adventure to slice of life ratio as they did in season 1 for season 2 (not that I'd complain if they threw in another magical girl episode or two, or even just a couple more regular adventure episodes >.>).

If the nobodies became ponies, what would their cutie marks be? Would they even have cutie marks?

For that matter, what would Sora, Goofy and Donald's cutie marks be? And Since Donald is the mage, would he be a unicorn, or a pegasus?

Doanald would be an ALICORN

Noponies would probably have either no cutie mark, or a twisted/ghostly version of the marks they had when they were someponies (whatever those would've been)

Alicorn is an awesome writer.

That said... Madoka has Evangelion'd the Magical Girl genre. I will never be able to take Magical Girls seriously ag- wait, I never ever took them seriously in the first place, except Princess Tutu.

But yeah, I like Slice of Life better. It's, like, I come back from a stressful day at college, I torrent an episode, I watch those incredible amounts of loveable cuteness and, you know, just relaaaax in my chair.

^^^^Noponies would probably be blank, since the whole point is loss of individuality. Powerful noponies (Organization XIII, basically) would probably have faded cutie marks if any nopony did.

^^^Bah, Donald's never been able to fly. He's a unicorn.

I really don't get viewpoints like that.
All Evangelion and Madoka did was take a different spin on a concept.
Its not like they took something and made it into something completely different either. They just took something and made it Darker and Edgier with some Mind Rape thrown in.
Home Stuck. That is all.

No. Look, have you read Don Quixote? Do you know that, after that novel came out, noody else dared publish chivalry novels ever again until, like the XI Xth century Romantic movement?

[up][up]Truth Madoka was in fact an idealistic series and it's ending was a reconstruction.Thinking it ruined the genre would be completely missing the point.

Nope, it was an Esoteric Happy Ending that was generally very cruel to everyone involved, while having the galls to show them to you and ask you with a smile "Aren't you happy for them?"

If people allow genres to be so affected by Deconstructions then perhaps the genre wasn't strong enough to begin with.

Just because someone took a Darker and Edgier turn on something doesn't mean the genre has to change forever.

EDIT: The ending was as happy as the 'rules' of the universe established would allow.

I don't want to derail the thread more. This is about cute ponies!! Not Madoka so I will simply quote the analysis of Madoka ( which I helped with). Madoka had the happiest ending Urobochi has ever written

**spoilers**

  • Did you miss the whole ending? Puella Magi Madoka Magica's plot is all about Power Of Love and Power Of Friendship. Madoka's complete selflessness and Homura's incredible devotion were the keys to breaking the Vicious Cycle. But this overwhelming importance of Power Of Love and Power Of Friendship is exactly the reason why the series judge those who use love and friendship to mask their selfish desires for gratitude and approval so harshly. Mami dies because she placed having friends over the safety of said friends and because she didn't saved her parents with her wish{ Sayaka tries to cast herself as a Love Martyr, but fails horribly because she actually isn't. Homura had to go through hell to prove the purity of her intent to protect Madoka and is saved only when she stops caring how Madoka views her in the process.
    • This is reinforced by the fact that the version of Madoka that ultimately triumphs Is the one that is fully aware of the consequences but makes the sacrifice regardless of them including losing everything.

I don't understand why there has to be a binary choice between a magical girl adventure show and episodic stand-alone stories. They could easily do both; in fact, I wish they did. They could fill out most of the season with what we've had so far, but set aside a handful of episodes for dealing with some sort of threat and the Elements of Harmony.

I thing that just bugs me me. Why did the episodes that focused on a real threat they not even try to use their Elements of Harmony? Was it ever said that the magic only worked on Nightmare Moon?

[up]

the elements of harmony only seem to work on evil beings, and they either purge them of said evil or they LOCK THEM IN THE MOON (least that's what I gathered) Every other antagonist the mane cast encounter is either a jerk or a wild monster. EOH would probably be a bit overkill

Do you guys think there's an evil character that would be immune to the elements? One thing that was from my epic story would be that they try to defeat the villain with the Elements, only it doesn't work because he's older than the Elements themselves.

Maybe. If the villain twisted the elements perhaps.

Honesty—rudeness Laughter—mockery Loyalty—compulsion
