Innocently Insensitive might actually be one of my most hated tropes. At least if it goes too far. MAS!RD Is so fucking stupid it HURTS!

You remind me of Doug Walker. He was self-deprecating to such an absurd extent it honestly stopped being funny (to me) after a while.

and yes. I would prefer someone be a jerk with kind qualities who is susceptible to karma, than an obnoxiously insensitive asswipe who is IMMUNE to karma because apparently he means well.

Why do you assume good intent comes with karma immunity?

What made you think Doug Walker's self-deprecation was played up for laughs? Most of he time it seemed to me he was just a nice guy with the usual artist's low self-worth of one's work. I simply sympathized with his views.

I didn't say that. I said that generally, Innocently Insensitive characters are less likely to be punished for their actions than straight up jerks are. Which gets AGGRAVATING after a while since I find II characters OBNOXIOUS as all fuck

That's because malintent reflects that the person in question is a sucky human being, so of course punishment ensues. Dickishness for dickishness's sake means you sort of suck.

Oh you mean what he puts the NC through? That's something completely different from what you're talking about, that's not self deprecation, that's putting a dickishness's character through abuse because that's how comedy works i.e. Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Rainbow Dash, etc...

Yeah, and I expect Dickish characters to recieve their comeuppance. (the reason I sympathize with villains so much is because they never win)

BUT, I would also like Innocently Insensitive characters to recieve some sort of comeuppance too. A lot of the time it seems like a cheap tactic to get away with a character being an absolute asshole without needing o punish him for it.

Either punish your II character too. Or don't fucking include them. Simple as.

I agree, though MAS!Rainbow Dash still goes through about as much abuse as everyone else so that point of karma immunity is a wee bit invalidated for that series.
